Happy October!
Here at Anderson Wildlife we love this time of year. Not just because the temps are starting to cool in Connecticut, but also because it’s a busy time of year for critters and home activity. It’s also Halloween season (who doesn’t love candy and trick or treating?) and more importantly – it’s Bat Appreciation month!
We Love Bats!
While largely misunderstood, bats really are wonderful and important mammals for the overall ecosystem. Even if the thought of them taking up space in your home or attic is spine chilling!
We’ve decided to take some time to highlight 3 fun facts about bats in honor of October being Bat Appreciation Month!
- Bats play an important role in the environment. Aiding in pollination and seed dispersal so all the pretty flowers and plants we love can grow and thrive.
- Bats have a long lifespan for an animal and can live up to 30 years or more!
- Hate insects in your yard? Bats are known to consume their body weight in insects each night.
