We’re in the Halloween spirit here at Anderson Wildlife so we wanted to make a fun post talking about the spooky, creepy side of our business. We get calls from clients who don’t know what animal or creature is invading their home and can only describe the creaky noises and pitter-patters on the roof.
Our mystery-solving skills start then.
We begin by surveying the area to see if there are any signs that a critter might be in your space. What we find can sometimes be alarming.
Here are some of the creepy, frightening things that you may hear or see if you’ve got critters that need removing.
Droppings
Droppings are a telltale sign that a critter is living around your home. While small mice droppings may be recognizable, there could be other critter droppings like bats that accumulate over time and can actually be very dangerous to human health.
Bite Marks
Don’t get alarmed. While we’re not talking about an animal actually biting you, you could start to see their work damaging the structure of your dwelling. Squirrels are on such wildlife that will chew through wires, wood and leave very visible bite marks when they’re around.
Odors
One thing you might not realize is a sign of critters in your home is strange odors. If you can’t seem to pinpoint a smell or if you’re seeing spots on the ceiling, it’s important to investigate. It could be raccoons in the attic. They are known to have a uniquely strong odor when urinating in the areas where they are staying.
